The Ultimate Display Glasses Experience

The Xreal Air 2 Pro has taken the world of display glasses by storm, and for good reason. With its sleek design and impressive features, it's my new favorite choice for immersive display experiences. In this blog post, I’ll delve into everything you need to know about the Xreal Air 2 Pro, from its display resolution to its comfort and unique features. Let’s dive in!
Understanding the Xreal Air 2 Pro
The Xreal Air 2 Pro display glasses are designed to connect seamlessly to various devices via USB-C or, with a few extra dongles, to any HDMI-supported device. This includes gaming consoles, laptops, and smartphones. After trying several display glasses this year, I can confidently say that the Xreal Air 2 Pro stands out as the best option available.

Capture Limitations
Before we get into the exciting features, let’s address the capture limitations. Unfortunately, there’s no way to directly capture what I’m seeing while wearing these glasses. To give you a better idea of the experience, we set up a GoPro as close to the glasses as possible. This setup allows us to give you a glimpse of what it’s like to use the Xreal Air 2 Pro in real life.
Traveling with the Xreal Air 2 Pro
As someone who travels frequently, I appreciate how convenient these glasses are. They let me play my Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch on a much larger screen. I can watch movies from my phone and feel completely immersed. The image is sharp enough that I can even connect them to my MacBook when I need to get some work done while on the go.
Display Resolution
The Xreal Air 2 Pro features two 1080p OLED displays, one for each eye. The computing is done in a large brim at the top, which directs the image down toward angled lenses for viewing. While the display doesn’t fill your entire field of vision, it offers an impressive experience within the designated area.

Comfort Matters
Comfort was a significant concern with the original Xreal Airs, as they lacked the ability to adjust the arms. However, the Air 2 Pro has made significant improvements. The arms are now slightly bendable, eliminating the pinching sensation that made long sessions uncomfortable. Weighing in at just 75 grams, they’re even lighter than the original model, making them a joy to wear.
Favorite Features
One of my favorite features is the electrochromic film, which allows the glasses to dim the surrounding area of the lens. This makes the display much easier to see in bright light. You can toggle between mostly transparent, darker, and almost black by pressing a button on the right arm. This enhancement addresses one of my main complaints about using the original Xreal glasses outside or in bright sunlight.
Xreal Beam Accessory
The Xreal Beam accessory is another exciting addition. This device connects to the glasses on one end and your device on the other. It enables connections to HDMI products like an Xbox or PlayStation using a USB-C to HDMI cable. You can also connect a Nintendo Switch without a dock. The Beam has buttons for volume adjustment, but do keep in mind that it has its own internal battery that lasts about three and a half hours, which you’ll need to recharge.

Xreal Beam Display Modes
The Beam introduces various display modes that enhance your experience. The first mode is "smooth follow," where the display follows your head movements. The second mode, "body anchor," locks the display in place, allowing you to position your floating monitor conveniently while you look away. Lastly, the "grid view" shrinks the display and places it in a corner of your vision, perfect for multitasking.
What I Like About the Xreal Air 2 Pro
There’s a lot to love about the Xreal Air 2 Pro. The comfort improvements are a game-changer, allowing for extended usage without discomfort. The addition of the electrochromic film is fantastic for outdoor use, and when paired with the Beam accessory, it opens up a plethora of customization options.
What I Don’t Love
However, there are a few drawbacks. The Beam accessory feels almost essential for the best experience, and I wish I could connect the glasses directly to an HDMI device without needing it. The price tag of $449 for the Xreal Air 2 Pro may also be a consideration for some; while it’s worth it, it’s still an investment.
Price and Availability
The Xreal Air 2 Pro retails for $449, making it one of the higher-end options in the display glasses market. However, considering the features and performance, I believe it’s a worthwhile investment for anyone looking for immersive media experiences.
